Candlelight Vigil in Limbo, As Daddy Lumba’s Family Advises Ghanaians Against the Planned Event

The family of Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba has serious objections regarding the planned candlelight vigil scheduled for August 2, 2025, in Accra.
Speaking in an interview with GH Page TV, the head of Daddy Lumba's family, Kofi Owusu, offered clarity on the said event.

As head of the family, Mr Owusu said no such event would be held on that date in their loved one’s name, as they had not been informed about it.
He therefore admonished Ghanaians to treat the news of that event as a lie.

"We don't know anything about it, and as a family, it is not true. The event is just hearsay. It is not true."
He also added that talks of funeral arrangements being discussed should be ignored since the family is not aware of it.
Daddy Lumba died on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra, where he was sent for emergency treatment.
In celebration of his life, a candlelight vigil will be organised, the Creative Agency has announced.
The mournful event will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra.

Additionally, a book of condolence was opened by the Fosu family at the private residence of the late musician.
Daddy Lumba, who began his music career in the late 1980s, released approximately 34 albums throughout his illustrious four-decade career.
