Fante Comedy Claims Bawumia Got Him VVIP Treatment in Jail: “One Call Changed Everything”
- TikTok personality and NPP activist, Fante Comedy, has spoken about how an alleged phone call with former Vice President Dr Bawumia changed his prison conditions

Controversial TikTok personality Prince Ofori, popularly known as Fante Comedy, has opened up on how Bawumia allegedly helped him receive VVIP treatment in jail.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) activist and Yayrah Abiwu, the party’s constituency women’s organiser for North Tongu, were arrested on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
According to a statement released by the Ghana Police Service on Tuesday, August 12, the duo were arrested for threatening the lives of the President, John Dramani Mahama, and the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama.

Their arrest also coincided with the arrest of Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare, a Wontumi TV presenter, and Sir Obama Pokuase, for making similar inflammatory comments.
On Wednesday, August 13, an Accra Circuit Court granted the TikTok creator bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with three sureties, two of whom must be gainfully employed.
Despite being granted bail, the arrested activist remained in custody until Monday, August 18, when he was released.
After his release, Fante Comedy met Mahamudu Bawumia, who hailed him for his actions despite their controversial nature.

Fante Comedy speaks about treatment in prison
Speaking following his release, the NPP activist claimed that Dr Bawumia called him in prison and that the call helped him.

He claimed that Bawumia’s call immediately led to him and his colleagues – Akyenkwaa Kofi Asare and Sir Obama – being granted VVIP treatment in prison.

“We were given a phone for Dr Bawumia to talk to us. After they heard Bawumia had called and was talking to us, they changed our sleeping arrangements and moved us into a VVIP wing. All three of us, Akyenkwaa, Sir Obama and I, spoke to the vice president,” he said.
Fante Comedy added that Bawumia advised them to remain patient and promised that they would be released soon.

Fante Comedy vows to continue Mahama attacks
Previously, YEN.com.gh reported that Fante Comedy promised to continue his attacks on President John Dramani Mahama despite being jailed over them.
In a video, the NPP activist was defiant and said people should expect more political attacks from him on the president.
The TikTok creator was jailed after allegedly making death threats against the president and publishing false information.
