Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s wife, Dianne, grabbed attention with her youthful looks and fashion sense as she appeared at the state funeral grounds for the eight fallen heroes.

Two cabinet ministers, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the Minister for Defence of Ghana, and Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, were reported dead after a helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The two were part of a five-member government delegation headed to Obuasi to attend an anti-illegal mining event.

Three other government officials, Muniru Mohammed, the Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Sarpong, the Vice Chairman of the ruling NDC and a Presidential staffer; and Samuel Aboagye, a former Obuasi East Parliamentary candidate, were also killed.

The Air Force officers operating the helicopter - Flying Officer Manaen Twum-Ampadu, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah - were also killed

A state funeral was held for the eight fallen heroes at the Black Star Square on Friday, August 15.

The President, John Dramani Mahama and his Vice, Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, headlined the event.

Other prominent attendees included former Presidents, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and John Agyekum Kufuor, former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Communications Minister Sam George, Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Ablah Dzifa Gomashie, former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and former Chief of Staff, Frema Osei Opare.

The Minority leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and his wife, Dianne, appeared at the state funeral grounds together.

The politician's wife looked beautiful, elegant, and stylish as she made a rare public appearance alongside her husband. She displayed a demure demeanour beside her partner, who was his usual boisterous self.

The minority leader’s wife has remained in the background despite his high public profile, with the funeral marking a rare public appearance.

The TikTok video of Afenyo-Markin and his wife’s arrival is below.

Alexander and Dianne Afenyo-Markin got married in the early 2000s when he was just 23 years old.

Speaking with Joy News in an interview on February 19, 2025, he said they decided to tie the knot despite being very young.

"My wedding pictures are those behind me. At age 23, I took that bold decision to go to the altar, and then we started a union there," he said.

Nana Akufo-Addo arrives at state funeral

Previously, YEN.com.gh reported that former President Nana Akufo-Addo had attended the state funeral held for the eight fallen heroes at the Black Star Square.

He arrived at the funeral grounds inside his signature luxurious Mercedes-Benz Maybach. Wearing a black suit and tie, he looked sad as he alighted and waved to the crowd.
