He said the meeting was about the forthcoming Akwatia by-election, where Dr Boamah, as the NDC's Director of Elections and IT, laid out strategies for the party to win the parliamentary seat.
During the meeting, Gibril stated that Dr Omane Boamah encouraged them to go all-out to secure victory for the ruling party in the by-election, slated for September 2, 2025.
Gibril made these remarks while responding to questions from the host of the Yɛn Nsɛmpa show on Onua FM about whether the NDC would withdraw from the Akwatia by-election as a reciprocal gesture to the New Patriotic Party (NPP)'s decision on the Tamale Central seat.
The NPP has withdrawn from the impending by-election in honour of the late former MP for the area and Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, who also died in the helicopter crash on August 6.
However, Gibril stated that the NDC was poised to clinch the Akwatia seat in honour of the late Defence Minister, as that was his last instruction to the elections directorate of the party before his untimely death.
