AFFA demands immediate release of Sir Obama
The arrest was further confirmed by a group calling itself the Alliance for Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA).
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, AFFA demanded the immediate release of Sir Obama, who is the Executive Secretary of the group.
Describing the arrest as 'unlawful', the group claimed that around 3:00 AM, a group of about 12 unidentified, masked, armed men stormed Sir Obama’s residence in Accra in a rambo-style manner.
They further alleged that the unidentified armed men destroyed his personal property and whisked him away to an undisclosed location.
Although no official explanation has yet been offered by the government, AFFA alleged that Sir Obama's arrest was politically motivated to silence critical voices.
"At this moment, his whereabouts remain unknown, the reason for his arrest is unclear, and there has been no official communication from the security agencies. This brazen act of impunity bears all the hallmarks of a politically motivated witch-hunt orchestrated by the Mahama administration to intimidate voices critical of its governance," AFFA wrote in the press statement.
"AFFA views this as part of a growing and dangerous culture of silence being reintroduced, frightening citizens into submission, and eroding the freedoms enshrined in our Constitution. We wish to remind President John Dramani Mahama and his government that Ghana is a democratic state governed by the rule of law, not a dictatorship where dissenting voices are shut down. Freedom of speech, association, and political expression are non-negotiable rights that no administration has the mandate to trample upon."

Sir Obama's alleged arrest comes just a few days after two other NPP social media activists, Prince Ofori, popularly known as Fante Comedy, and Yayra Abiwu, were arrested.
In a statement, the Ghana Police Service said it had commenced an investigation into a viral TikTok video in which Fante Comedy and Yayra Abiwu were heard threatening the lives of President John Mahama and the First Lady, Lordina Mahama.
