The former Member of Parliament for Tema East, Honourable Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, has opened up about a near-death experience he had on a flight.

Titus Glover narrated his experience in the wake of a recent helicopter crash that killed eight people.

Two cabinet ministers, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the Minister for Defence of Ghana, and Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, were reported dead after a helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The two were part of a five-member government delegation headed to Obuasi to attend an anti-illegal mining event.

Other members of the delegation included Muniru Mohammed, the Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Samuel Sarpong, the Vice Chairman of the ruling NDC and a Presidential staffer, and Samuel Aboagye, a former Obuasi East Parliamentary candidate.

Three other members of the Ghana Air Force, who were operating the military helicopter, died in the crash.

The officers were identified as Flying Officer Manaen Twum-Ampadu, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

On Friday, August 8, a vigil was held for the three Air Force officers at the Takoradi Airport.

Titus Glover narrates narrow crash escape

In light of the tragedy, a former Member of Parliament, Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, spoke about his own near-death experience on a flight.

Speaking on Adom FM, Titus Glover said he was travelling with four other MPs on a commercial flight when the incident occurred.

He said they were returning from Tamale to Accra when the plane developed a fault and they had to make an emergency landing.

Titus Glover said the incident was truly scary and he felt his life was coming to an end.

Helicopter crash sparks conversation about prophecies

The helicopter crash led to numerous Ghanaian prophets coming out to announce they had seen the incident ahead of time.

Prophet Roja, a Kumasi-based prophet, rose to fame after speaking about impending doom for the Defence Minister a day before the tragedy.

Addressing the issue, the speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, called for politicians to take prophecy more seriously.

"Let’s take spiritual prophecies seriously. In this grieving, always for our good and continue to thank him for giving us this precious life for the service rendered to us, and we pray that he finds a good place in Jannah," he said. while at the residence of the late Deputy National Security Coordinator, Limuna Muniru.

Helicopter makes emergency landing

Previously, YEN.com.gh reported that a Volta River Aviation helicopter made an emergency landing near Nkawkaw bypass due to poor visibility and weather conditions.

The incident occurred days after a fatal military helicopter crash, sparking three days of national mourning.

Eyewitnesses said that the helicopter hovered near a school before landing safely, with no injuries reported from the passengers or crew.
