Renowned Ghanaian media personality Roland Walker has reacted to the tragic helicopter crash incident that claimed the lives of eight people in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

In a recent episode of TV3 Ghana's New Day morning show, the veteran broadcaster shared that he received a message from the late Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed at 8:56 am, before his sudden demise in the Ghana Armed Forces' Z-9 helicopter crash.
Roland Walker noted that the deceased politician was monitoring a political discussion between his panellists, Dr Joshua Jebuntie Zaato, the Movement for Change party communications team member, Dr Solomon Owusu, and GIFEC CEO Dr Tanko Rashid-Computer on his TV show.
He also showed the footage of himself reading the late Dr Murtala Muhammed's message on live TV on the day he was involved in the tragic helicopter crash.
The late Environment Minister's message read:
"I am wondering how long my brother, Dr Zaato, has experienced a change. We were all comrades in Legon."
Walker also shared that the late Tamale Central constituency MP also disassociated himself from some comments Dr Zaato made during their discussion.

Murtala Muhammed involved in Obuasi helicopter crash
Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed was among the eight individuals who tragically lost their lives in the helicopter crash that happened at the Sikaman Forest in the Adansi South District in the Ashanti Region.
The Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology and his colleague, Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, were on board the Ghana Armed Forces' Z-9 helicopter when the tragic crash happened.

The Deputy National Security Coordinator, Limuna Muniru, a Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Samuel Sarpong, and a former Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East, Samuel Aboagye, also died in the crash.
Three military officers, Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, and Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, were also victims of the deadly crash.
The unfortunate incident occurred when the eight individuals were travelling to Obuasi for an anti-Galamsey event.
On Sunday, August 10, 2025, Dr Murtala Muhammed and Alhaji Muniru Limuna were buried in the Military Cemetery after Muslim Jannaza prayers at the Forecourt of the State House. His wife and family attended his burial.
A three-day funeral rites ceremony was held for the deceased Environment Minister as part of Islamic customs.

The late Environment Minister shared the good character traits his wife possessed and how she had impacted his life after their marriage.
The old footage of Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed praising his wife gained significant traction from Ghanaians on social media.
