Obuasi Helicopter Crash: Sad Scenes at Omane Boamah's House as Family Gets Informed of His Passing

There was immense grief in the family's house of Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah in Koforidua as news of his passing was communicated to his kin.
Omane Boamah, the Minister of Defence, passed away in a tragic helicopter crash at Sikaman Forest in the Adansi South District in the Ashanti Region.

The helicopter, belonging to the Ghana Armed Forces, is reported to have burst into flames upon crashing, killing Omane Boamah and seven others, including the Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology, Dr Murtala Mohammed.

The other government officials were Deputy National Security Coordinator Limuna Muniru, former Ashanti Regional Minister and current National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Vice Chairman Dr Samuel Sarpong, and former Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East and the deputy coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Samuel Aboagye.
The crew consisted of Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
The group was travelling to Obuasi for the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP). Omane Boamah was representing President John Mahama, the special guest of honour who reportedly cancelled at the last minute.
Omane Boamah's family informed of his passing
Following the tragic incident, a government delegation was dispatched to the Eastern regional capital to inform the late minister's family.
The delegation led by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, included the NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Presidential Advisor, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Deputy Defence Minister, Brogya Genfi, Youth and Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, and Major General William Agyapong, the Chief of Defence Staff.

They arrived at the residence of Dr Omane Boamah's mother at Koforidua Effiduasi in the New Juaben South constituency around 17:00 GMT and met scores of people who had come to mourn with the family.

Tears flow at Omane Boamah's house
In another video, the delegation was seen filing out of the main building with some people seated in sombre mood. Many of the people broke down in tears.
One of the women who was audible in the video shouted the local name of the late minister and asked why God did not save her son.
"Yiee Kofi, ei Awurade woangye me ba yi amma me," she said in Twi, which translates as "Yiee Kofi, ei Lord you did not save my son for me."

Muntaka reacts to Omane Boamah, Murtala's deaths
YEN.com.gh reported that Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed had opened up about the sad helicopter crash at Obuasi, which has led to the death of Dr Omane Boamah, Murtala Mohammed and others.
The Interior minister described the tragedy as a monumental loss as he joined Ghanaians to mourn the helicopter crash victims.
His sorrowful tribute on social media has got many talking about how he almost ended up on the trip.
