He reportedly polled 380 votes out of the total valid ballots cast, while Henry Boakye and Eramus Konney Ali had 226 and 366 respectively.

Bernard Bediako Baidoo's victory has, however, sparked outrage among a section of the NDC supporters in Akwatia as they accused him of vote buying.

Consequently, the supporters have vowed to vote against him in the by-election slated for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

In a video circulating on social media, the group of NDC supporters were seen visibly angry as they registered their displeasure over the process and outcome of the parliamentary primary.

"Who will vote for him? Me? Over my dead body," a female supporter was heard angrily lamenting.
"We will vote for the NPP. If you look at the work that Asanka has done in the constituency, the NDC should have allowed him to go unopposed, but they took money, GH¢2,000 and GH¢4,000, to vote against him. We will also vote against the NDC. We will vote for the NPP," a male NDC supporter also said.
