Circumstances of Bright Aweh's arrest

The police issued a statement on July 10, 2025, confirming that Aweh had been arrested. He has made two appearances in court since then.

According to reports, Aweh had sent Amoah photos of cash bundles via WhatsApp and asked to meet at a location in Ashongman Estate to settle a debt.

On Sunday, July 3, 2025, at around 8 pm, Amoah left to meet Aweh, and that was the last time he was seen by his family.

The police said on July 9, 2025, they discovered a badly burned body at the location, which was transported to the Police Hospital morgue.

After his arrest, Aweh provided inconsistent accounts regarding the incident.

Police discovered a bloodstained pestle near the home of the main suspect, Bright Aweh.

During a press conference, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department, confirmed that the pestle was wrapped in polythene when found.

"To aid the investigation, the deceased's mother and son had provided samples for DNA profiling," Donkor said.

In addition to the pestle, police found bloodstains inside Aweh’s impounded car.

A forensic investigation at Aweh’s residence showed bloodstains in the living room and signs of an attempted cleanup, including traces of blood and freshly painted walls. An empty spray paint can was also recovered.

The Ghana Police Service said they believe Aweh did not act alone in the murder, and a special operation is ongoing to track down and arrest any accomplices involved.

"The investigation remains ongoing and every effort is being made to ensure all the perpetrators are brought to justice," reportedly added.
