A nurse who was reportedly assaulted by Ralph St. Williams and some individuals at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital has gone public with her account of what transpired on August 18, 2025.

Addressing the media during a visit by the Ghana Registered Nurses' and Midwives’ Association (GRNMA), the nurse described the events in detail as the association sought to evaluate her condition.

Speaking to the media after the GRNMA executives visited her, the visibly distressed nurse alleged that the activist made disturbing comments toward her after certain demands were not met.

She stated that the outspoken activist warned he would follow her and other nurses to their homes.

Before making that threat, the nurse indicated that Ralph and the men who accompanied him had physically assaulted her.

"Rafael did this to me. He hit me with his phone and with his fists. I even dodged a couple of punches. They hit me... all over. Right now, I have a dislocation."

Ministry of Health condemns the attack

The Ministry of Health has meanwhile released a statement condemning the attack on health professionals at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital by activist Ralph St. Williams.

The ministry described his conduct on August 18 as “unfortunate,” adding that investigations have been launched into the circumstances surrounding the reported delay in care.

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has also added his voice to calls for anyone found to have conducted himself in an unlawful manner to be brought to book.
