Fante Comedy and others' recent arrest
Fante Comedy and the North Tongu constituency Women's Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yayrah Abiwu, were arrested by personnel from the Ghana Police Service for allegedly threatening the life of President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama.
The two individuals had allegedly made the threats while discussing the Obuasi helicopter crash during a TikTok live session.
On Wednesday, August 13, an Accra Circuit Court granted Fante Comedy bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with three sureties, two of whom must be gainfully employed. He was also required to surrender his passport to the police until further notice.
However, the NPP activist remained in police custody for days after failing to meet the bail conditions. He was finally released on bail on Monday, August 18, 2025.

"Interesting times. So now open bias and cheerleading for comedians is official party business? 😂 If only the same energy was used to fix the economy when they had power instead of clapping for punchlines, Ghana would be better off."

"The fastest way to become popular or to be honoured in the NPP is to be arrested. You become a hero overnight. SMH."
