Ghanaian musician Evangelist Diana Asamoah has weighed in on the frenzy surrounding John Dramani Mahama's trip to Japan and Singapore, following rumours that the president chartered a private jet.

The rumours gained widespread attention after Old Tafo MP, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, claimed on social media that a private jet, with registration number M-BAEP, was being used as the president travelled out of the country.

During Diana Asamoah's stint on Angel FM's morning show, the gospel singer teased John Mahama for boarding a private jet despite the heavy criticism from his party executives when Nana Akufo-Addo was president.

"The other day, it was said that John Mahama chartered a private jet just like the way my father, President Akufo-Addo, did when he was president," Diana Asamoah said.
"Our brother, Okudzeto Ablakwa, said that he would resign should John Mahama use a private jet for his trip. The time has come for him to fulfil it so that Ghanaians can believe him," she added.

Meanwhile, the president's Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Stan Dogbe, clarified that John Mahama did not use any private jet but rather flew out of Accra to Japan and Singapore aboard a commercial airline.

Diana Asamoah shares horrific helicopter experience

Diana Asamoah, in her submission, defended Akufo-Addo's heavily criticised decision to use a private jet for his trips abroad.

The staunch supporter of Akufo-Addo and his political party, the New Patriotic Party, said the poor state of Ghana's aircraft influenced the former president's decision.

During the show, she shared a similar experience when she boarded a helicopter to Walewale for the funeral of former vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's father.

She claimed that the helicopter sounded and had the turbulence of a train.

The topic of aricrafts in Ghana became a trending issue after the tragic helicopter crash on August 6 near Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.

All eight people aboard the Ghana Air Force Harbin Z-9 helicopter when it crashed were burned to death.

The fatalities included Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Environment, Science and Technology Minister Dr Alhaji Murtala Muhammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Vice-Chairman of the NDC Dr Samuel Sarpong, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Stan Dogbe fires NPP MP over private jet rumours

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Stan Dogbe had criticised Old Tafo MP, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, for claims suggesting that President John Mahama chartered a private jet for an official trip.
