In a video shared on his X page, the vlogger stated that he received over two million views on a video he shared on his channel, but the revenue he got was a surprise to him.
The video, titled "The 2024 Atopa Festival Was a Massive Experience," documented the colourful and cultural Atopa Festival celebrated by the people of Gomoa Fetteh in Ghana's Central Region.
Within 36 days after the video was published, it skyrocketed past a million views and has since accumulated over two million views.
As could be seen in his explanation, it brought him more than 65,000 watch hours and 4,800 new subscribers.
Scanty SZN laments revenue from YouTube
With the huge viewership count, many Ghanaians assumed that the success had made him wealthy, but contrary to their expectations, the revenue stood at only $9.

Scanty, while being surprised and a bit demotivated, explained that YouTube payouts are more complex than people assume and not solely dependent on view counts.
The discrepancy, he said, comes down to CPM (Cost Per Mille) and RPM (Revenue Per Mille). The advertising rates vary depending on factors such as audience location, type of content, and language barriers, among others.

Yaw Dabo claims YouTube is very profitable
YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that Ghanaian actor Yaw Dabo, in an interview with Zionfelix, detailed how profitable YouTube was and argued the platform was more profitable than selling CDs.
The actor highlighted numerous advantages of using the streaming platform, noting that it helped creatives avoid losing out on much-needed revenue through unscrupulous deals.
Yaw Dabo mentioned that many movie stars who take on YouTube production gigs get paid well by the producers, and mentioned a general estimate of what they typically earn.
