Helicopter Crash: NPP MP Shaken By Doom Prophecy, Vows Not To Travel By Air, Video

The Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South West, Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, has opened up on his fears in the wake of the Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter that crashed and killed eight people on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

In an interview with Kasapa FM on August 14, the NPP stalwart admitted that he has developed a fear of air travel and, for the time being, will rely on road transport instead.

Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah explained that two reasons account for that, with the first being the issue of bad weather conditions.

"Based on the crash that happened, I have decided I might not board a plane again. Yesterday I drove all the way from Kumasi to Accra. This is all because I am afraid. The weather is bad and apart from that they are saying a lot of things. As I speak with you, the prophecies that are coming about Ahafo South West, my name is in there. If I don’t pray fervently there will be a by-election. And I am still praying. So for now, I will travel by road. Yesterday from Kumasi to Accra I spent seven hours," he told the interviewer.

Details of the helicopter crash

The Z-9 helicopter on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, crashed at the Sikaman Forest in the Adansi South District near Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, killing all eight persons on the flight.

Among the victims were two cabinet ministers, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

Other top political officials, including the Deputy National Security Coordinator, Limuna Muniru, a Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Samuel Sarpong, and the Deputy Director General in charge of Relief and Protocol at NADMO, Samuel Aboagye, also died in the crash.

Three military officers, Flight Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, and Flight Lieutenant Manin Twum-Ampadu, were also victims of the unfortunate helicopter crash.

They were going to the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) in Obuasi before they perished in the accident.

GAF helicopter's black box found after crash

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the Ghana Armed Forces' Z-9 helicopter's black box had been found.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, disclosed the Ghana Armed Forces personnel's visit to the crash site.

He also opened up on psychological support for the individuals who were first to the scene of the crash.
