A relative, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru, one of the victims of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) helicopter crash, has opened up on the details of conversations he had with the Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.

The cousin of the late Limuna Mohammed Muniru made this disclosure during the state funeral service for the eight people who lost their lives in the tragic helicopter crash on Friday, August 15, 2025.

In a video sighted on @channel1tvgh on TikTok, the middle-aged man, who appeared visibly sad, shared details of his numerous conversations with Limuna Mohammed Muniru, indicating that the Deputy National Security Coordinator wanted to be remembered for his positive impact on society.

“He had always mentioned to me that, look, on the day that he's no more, he wants to be remembered for the many people’s lives that he touched. And indeed, he did live that life, supporting and sacrificing so much for many people who came his way with problems and challenges.”

He then went on to eulogise the late NDC stalwart, touching on the benevolent gestures he embarked upon as well as his love for God.

“When we went into a position after the 2016 elections, he consolidated that effort by establishing the Tamar Water Foundation. Through that foundation, he supported a lot of people with medical care and health care. He supported young people who were brilliant but couldn’t afford to attain education at higher levels. He supported farmers who were in the vicinity of the Damango and Busunu area to be able to earn a livelihood for themselves.

I mean, he was quite very religious as well. And there was never a time that you would find it’s time for prayers, and he doesn’t stop whatever he is doing to go and attend to that spiritual call before he continued.”

Alhaji Muniru and Murtala Mohammed, two of the casualties in he helicopter crash, were buried on August 10, 2025, at the Military Cemetery.

Ghanaian business mogul Ibrahim Mahama vowed to settle all outstanding debts owed by the two NDC stalwarts per Islamic traditions to honour the deceased.

Alhaji Muniru was among the eight individuals who tragically lost their lives in the helicopter crash at Sikaman Forest in the Adansi South District, Ashanti Region.
