A young woman believed to be the wife of Samuel Aboagye, one of the eight victims of the recent helicopter crash in the Ashanti region, has courted attention online.

The frenzy surrounding the young woman identified as Abigail Salami began to build up after videos of her with the late politician surfaced online.
In one video, Abigail was seen having some fun with her husband. The couple were captured rapping the lines of Akyeame's Mesan Aba featuring Nana Quami, Yoggy Doggi and Mary.
During the brief heartwarming performance, Abigail jumped into the arms of Samuel Aboaye, who was comfortably lounging on a sofa, giving his wife morale.

What happened to Samuel Aboagye?
On August 6, Ghana's Chief of Staff confirmed that Samuel Aboagye was aboard the Ghana Air Force helicopter which crash-landed in the Ashanti Region.
All eight persons aboard the flight, including three military officers and five government officials, died on the spot. Their remains were retrieved from the crash site hours later.
The fatalities also included Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Environment, Science and Technology Minister Dr Alhaji Murtala Muhammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Vice-Chairman of the NDC Dr Samuel Sarpong, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Samuel Aboagye was appointed Deputy Director General at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in February 2025 and began serving the nation in an executive role.
Before his appointment, he ran for MP in Obuasi East on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in last year's general elections but lost by 19 votes to Patrick Boakye-Yiadom of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

KMA boss details Samuel Aboagye's last words
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that KMA boss, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, had recounted his conversation with Samuel Aboagye before the crash.
According to him, the Z-9 helicopter attempted to land at the Obuasi airstrip and the Ofori Stadium on two occasions but was unsuccessful due to poor weather conditions.
The KMA boss noted that Samuel Aboagye had been in constant communication with the Obuasi MCE while in the helicopter and spoke about their challenges in landing before the tragic incident.
