Sad scenes from the Jubilee House as the government commenced the three-day national mourning for the victims of the tragic helicopter crash in the Ashanti region have emerged.

A woman believed to be a staunch supporter of the late Defence Minister Dr Dward Omane Boamah, who perished in the helicopter accident, has courted significant attention after her moments during the National Mourning event surfaced online.
In a video sighted by YEn.com.gh, the woman was seen on her knees, sorrowfully expressing the hurt over Dr Omane Boamah's passing.

In her message, she talked about how the late Defence Minister of immense to her. While others left flowers and scented candles, the lady removed a rosary around her neck and offered it.
She added a prayer beseeching God to grant Omane Boamah into his bosom. In her prayer, she described the late minister as a good person whose soul deserves to be with the Lord.
Dr Omane Boamah was aboard the Ghana Armed Forces Z‑9 helicopter en route to Obuasi for the launching of the responsible cooperative mining and skills development programme when the tragedy occurred.
Other casualties included Dr Alhaji Murtala Muhammed, MP for Tamale Central and Minister for Environment, Science & Technology, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed – Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr. Samuel Sarpong (Vice Chairman of the NDC), and Samuel Aboagye – Former Parliamentary Candidate, Sqn. Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer, Twum Ampadu and Sgt. Ernest Addo Mensah.
The president, John Dramani Mahama, who had planned to make the trip but later changed his mind, was seen sobbing at the Jubilee House.
There have been frantic calls for an official investigation into the national tragedy.
Bawumia mourns Obuasi crash victims
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that the former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has extended his condolences following the tragic helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region that killed eight people.
In his message to Ghanaians as the nation mourns, Bawumia noted that the deceased victims paid the ultimate price in service to Ghana.
