  • Former Tema East MP Titus Glover claimed that the strength of the Cedi began during the Nana Addo-led administration, not under President Mahama's government
  • He praised the NPP for what he described as implementing policies that contributed to Ghana's economic stability and the strengthening of the Cedi before Nana Addo vacated office
  • Glover argued that the current government has a responsibility to protect the gains made by the previous administration

Titus Glover, the former Greater Accra Regional Minister, has dismissed the praises being heaped on President John Dramani Mahama for stabilising the economy claiming that the cedi's strength began under the erstwhile Nana Akufo Addo administration.

He proceeded to claim that the cedi had began showing signs that it would rally in a positive trajectory before the NPP was unseated, which he used as a basis to back his hypothesis.

Based on this argument, he said, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) ought to acknowledge the NPP's role in the economy's recovery and protect the gains.

Speaking further, he warned that the economic gains achieved so far could be eroded if the NDC government is not firm in its leadership and doesn't institute the correct policies.

He claimed that the NDC has an almost fiduciary responsibility to ensure it builds on the work done by Nana Akufo Addo.
