He then warned that if the grieving widow tries to exclude the family from the funeral preparations or attempts to handle it all by herself, it will not be accepted.
"If you have money, your money cannot buy anyone. Things should be done properly, so the woman also understands that Lumba came from a family."
"But if she singlehandedly decides to carry on with the funeral preparations or tries to bury him without us, that will not work."
Known in personal life as Charles Kwadwo Fosu, Daddy Lumba, who composed over 200 songs, died on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
The 60-year-old was rushed to the Bank Hospital in Accra for emergency treatment, where he died.
Ghanaian celebrities and well-wishers have thronged the home of the deceased to express their condolences to his wife and family in their difficult moment.
Daddy Lumba's family head makes a U-turn
In a surprising twist, Kofi Owusu, in a new interview with Kontonkyie TV, has retracted his comments about Odo Broni.
This comes after Daddy Lumba’s widow adhered to all traditions and had appropriately communicated the news of his death.
Kofi Owusu then labelled Odo Broni for forgiveness and sought forgiveness for his past utterances.
Akosua Serwaa, Odo Broni recognised as widows
The family head for Daddy Lumba again refuted claims of a rift between Priscilla Ofori Atta, alias Odo Broni, and Akosua Serwaa, the woman Daddy Lumba first married.
Setting the records straight, Kofi Owusu confirmed that the family will recognise both Odo Broni and Akosua Serwaa as widows of the veteran highlife musician.

“Anyone talking ill about Daddy Lumba's family is not cultured. The family members did not say anything bad. They are just demanding respect from his second wife. Let’s respect Asante culture.”
@wisebuddygh wrote:
“Nice interview. We cannot fault the family's demands for cultural etiquette. They are part and parcel of Ashanti customs and traditions that must be respected and defended at all times [no exception]. Good job, Madam interviewer [host].”
