The leader of the Kingdom of Eswatini, King Mswati III, has arrived in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region, with videos of the visit captured in viral social media footage.

A clip spotted by YEN.com.gh on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, showed the moment King Mswati III arrived at the Prempeh I International Airport to a welcome befitting his status.

The King and his entourage travelled aboard the 'Dzata' private jet, which belongs to the business mogul Ibrahim Mahama.

He was welcomed by a powerful delegation from Manhyia, led by the Paramount Chief of the Juaben Traditional Area, Nana Otuo Sereboe II, who led the delegation to welcome King Mswati III to Kumasi.

Other dignitaries who were also present at the event included the Ashanti Region Minister, Dr Frank Amokohene.

Mahama Welcomes King Mswati

His Royal Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini paid a visit to the Jubilee House on June 24, 2025, as part of his four-day visit to Ghana.

President Mahama, in an address, expressed joy and indicated that the visit by King Mswati III of Eswatini would deepen relations between the two nations.

Mahama pledged Ghana’s commitment to building stronger partnerships across the African continent.

Ghana, Eswatini sign MoU

Ghana and Eswatini signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a Joint Commission for Cooperation on Tuesday, June 24.

A report by the Graphic Online, the MoU will provide a platform for dialogue and coordination to enhance trade, investment, cultural exchange, education, tourism, and infrastructural development between the two nations.

The agreement was signed at the Jubilee House in Accra by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the Eswatini Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Pholile Shakantu.

King Mswati III, born on April 19, 1968, as Prince Makhosetive Dlamini, ascended the throne at the age of 18 on April 25, 1986, after the death of his father.

He became king on April 25, 1986, at the age of 18, following the death of his father, King Sobhuza II.

He received his education at Sherborne School in the UK and the University of Wales, where he earned a degree in political science.

King Mswati III's itinerary while in Ghana

King Mswati III’s visit to Kumasi is part of a four-day trip to Ghana. As part of his itinerary, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, he will address the National House of Chiefs, tour the Manhyia Museum, and visit the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.

He will join the Asantehene for the KNUST congregation on Saturday, June 28, 2025, before departing for Accra.

Otumfuo visits former President Akufo-Addo

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Otumfuo Osei Tutu II paid a visit to former President William Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at his residence in Nima on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

He arrived at the premises of the former president in a convoy with his heavy security detail and council of elders. Akufo-Addo and his wife could not hide their joy at the moment.
