Ghana Meteo Warns of More Rains After Sunday’s Heavy Downpour: “Get Your Umbrellas”

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMET) has warned citizens in some parts of the country, including residents of coastal towns, to expect more rain after Sunday’s heavy downpour.
In a weather forecast sighted by YEN.com.gh, on the agency's page, the government institution asked Ghanaians to expect more rains later Monday afternoon and in the evening on May 19, 2025.

Parts of Ghana experienced torrential rains on May 18, 2025, leaving many parts of the country, especially the Greater Accra region, flooded.
Some residents who were greatly affected by the rains, which lasted for hours, are counting their losses in the aftermath of the downpour.
Areas like Ashaley Botwe, Shiashie, Kaneshie, Okponglo, etc. have all been reported to have flooded.

Despite the heavy downpour on Sunday, the Ghana Meteorological Agency is cautioning of more rain today, May 19, 2025.
Giving a breakdown of the weather conditions, GMET indicated that it would be partly cloudy in parts of Accra, Kasoa, Ho, Kumasi, Aflao, Obuasi, etc. in the morning, while it will be misty in parts of Koforidua, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Axim, etc, same morning.

However, in the afternoon, areas like Kumasi, Obuasi, Ho, Tarkwa, Sunyani, Takoradi, etc., will experience thunderstorms or rainfall, while it will be sunny in Accra, Kasoa, Cape Coast and Aflao.
In the evening, Cape Coast will experience thunderstorms/rainfall, alongside areas in Takoradi, Axim, Ho, Koforidua, Akim Oda, Obuasi, Kumasi, etc.

However, it will be mostly cloudy in Accra, Kasoa, Aflao, and partly cloudy in parts of Northern Ghana, while the rains will continue in Obuasi, Kumasi, Ho, Tarkwa and other parts of the country.

Kwadwo Sheldon’s estate floods
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that famous Ghanaian YouTuber Kwadwo Sheldon was among the victims of the heavy downpour on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
Based on videos shared online by the famous internet personality, his home was flooded, causing unnecessary inconvenience.
In the caption of his post on X, the Ghanaian YouTuber noted that he had returned from Kwahu to find his house underwater due to the heavy rainfall. He added that scenes from nearby homes within the estate were 'unbelievable' and emphasised that his home, like others in the estate, was marooned by the floods.
