Robbers Attack Gold Shop in Mpohor, Make Away With GH¢800,000 and 100 Pounds of Gold

Video footage has emerged of a armed robbery at a gold shop in Mpohor after an attack by four people.

The group of robbers reportedly made away with about GH¢800,000 and 100 pounds worth of gold.

Adom News shared the CCTV footage of the daring armed robbery at the Okyeso Nyame gold-buying shop on August 16.

The footage showed one of the suspects, now in police custody, seated in front of the shop moments before the attack.

Posing as though in casual conversation, the gang appeared to be surveying the premises until launching the attack once the coast was clear.

Two workers in the gold shop were assaulted, while a third person walked into the robbery situation, which lasted seven minutes.

Police released a statement saying the wounded victim was responding to treatment.

Graphic Online reported that police are currently on the heels of eight others alleged to have been involved in the robbery.

Similar attacks on Ghana's gold value chain

In July, police busted three suspects who had planned to rob a gold consignment valued at over GH¢1.3 million. The suspects were identified as Adams Zibo, Massawud Yussif and Kenneth Khartey.

Police said its Special Support Unit (SSU) commenced the operation on June 25, 2025, following indications that a gold dealer’s driver and a man posing as his bodyguard had conspired to rob a scheduled gold delivery the following day.

Also in July, in Teleku-Bokazo in the Ellembelle Municipality, there was a robbery carried out by an 11-man gang.

Robbers attacked the Capital Gold Buyer shop and made away with gold bars and an undisclosed amount of money on July 31.

Robbers moved in after a bus that transports mine workers, which had parked close to the Capital Gold Buyer shop, took off.

At the time of the attack, four people were present. A customer suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, while one other person was stabbed.

In May 2024, a 15-member gang attacked a mining company and shot its managers.

After ransacking the premises, the armed robbers also stole about GH¢1 million in cash and two gold bars.

Following the attack, the managers were in the hospital responding to treatment, and the police set up a security post at the mining site.

Content creator burgled at East Legon

YEN.com.gh also reported that a Ghanaian content creator, Naa Darkoa, opened up about the recent theft of some of her valuables.

In a video, she noted that some thieves broke into her car at East Legon and stole her laptop while she was visiting her close friend.
