President Mahama Leaves Ghana for an Official Visit to Japan and Singapore: “Safe Journey”

President John Dramani Mahama has left Ghana to visit to Japan and Singapore to help strengthen bilateral relations and attract investments to the country.

The President left on Sunday, August 17, 2025, for his two-country official visits. He will first travel to Japan, followed by Singapore.

A statement signed by the Government Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, indicated that President Mahama would take part in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX), where he will speak at a plenary session focused on promoting trade and investment.

He is expected to speak at the Ghana Presidential Investment Forum, where he will emphasise the country's investment prospects under the Resetting Ghana agenda.

“He will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with key Japanese partners, including the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), senior representatives of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), and the Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba, to discusss trade, investment, technical coorperation, and infrastructure partnerships.”

After he is done with his official engagement in Japan, President Mahama will reportedly leave for Singapore for a three-day state visit.

In Singapore, President Mahama will hold discussions with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

“The state visit will include a courtesy call on with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, a meeting with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, participation in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum, and an address at an investment forum to present Ghana’s reforem and investment priorities and strengthen private-sector linkages between Ghana and Singapore-based investors.”

The visits form part of the Presidency’s agenda to deepen partnerships in technology, finance, infrastructure, human capital development, and expand market access for Ghanaian products.

John Mahama travels without a Presidential convoy

YEN.com.gh also previously reported that President Mahama went to a party without the presidential convoy.

In a video, he arrived in the front seat of a VW ID Buzz dressed in a white long-sleeve shirt and neat trousers.

At the same event, President Mahama was in the company of a few associates who also dressed in white.
