A video captured by a resident of Adansi has been sighted, showing the aftermath of the Ghana Air Force helicopter crash that claimed eight lives on August 6, 2025, in a forest area of the Ashanti Region.

The video, on social media and sighted by YEN.com.gh, was taken by a woman who appeared to be standing quite a far distance away from the wreckage site.
In the video, clouds of smoke can be seen coming from the mountainside, which confirms early eyewitness reports that the chopper had gone down in a mountainous and forested remote area near Obuasi.
According to sources, the GAF helicopter was flying at a low altitude due to poor weather conditions, with fog present, when it reportedly lost control and crashed.
The video, though distant, has given a horrifying glimpse of the crash, with thick smoke rising into the sky and signaling tragedy from afar.

The resident of Adansi, who was not named, was alerted by the sound of the crash and quickly pulled out her phone to record what she could see from that vantage point.
Although she was quite distant from witnessing the impact clearly or reaching the crash site, her video has helped validate accounts from locals and the rescue team who arrived at the scene some minutes later.
Tragically, it has been reported that the remains of the eight victims of the helicopter tragedy were in a terrible state due to a fire that erupted when the aircraft went down.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have confirmed that all eight people on board, including Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and five other high-ranking officials and military personnel, were killed.
As Ghana mourns this painful loss, the footage of smoke coming from the Adansi mountainside serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by public servants in the line of duty.

Concerns have been shared about how quickly such sensitive scenes were filmed and shared online, especially when emergency and rescue efforts were likely not yet underway.
Meanwhile, samples of the remains of the eight victims have been flown out of the country to South Africa for a forensic analysis.
The late ministers, politicians, and military personnel are set to receive a state burial on August 15, 2025.
