Eric Opoku: Agric Minister Says 2024 National Best Farmer Is Yet to Receive His Cash Prize

The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has disclosed that the 2024 National Best Farmer has not received his cash prize.
According to the Minister, Nana Owusu Achiaw Brempong came to his office to tell him about the government failing to pay out his money.

In a video on X, Eric Opoku said they would award the recipients by August 2025.
"Most of those who received awards during the 2024 National Farmers’ Day have not received their prize money. The 2024 National Best Farmer, for instance, has not received his prize money."
"He was in my office to tell me. We have now put things together and got the money that the NPP government promised. On August 6, courtesy of ADB Bank, we will give them their awards," he added.

Eric Opoku added that they have invited other award recipients who also didn't receive their cash prize to do so.
"Three other people did not get their prize money. We have invited them too, and we will give them their money on August 6, 2025."
Nana Owusu Achiaw Brempong was the 2024 National Best Farmer, and was due a cash prize of GH¢1 million, sponsored by Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) PLC.
The award was presented at the 40th National Farmers' Day.

Mahama names John Dumelo Deputy Minister
YEN.com.gh reported that President John Mahama has appointed John Dumelo as one of his deputy ministers.
The actor-turned-politician was appointed as Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture. He is a deputy to Opoku.
