Veteran highlife musician Ofori Amponsah visited the residence of his mentor, Daddy Lumba, on Thursday, July 31, 2025, following his demise.

In a TikTok video shared by blogger Tina News GH, the Sardine hitmaker was spotted arriving at the late music icon's house to mourn his passing with his family and loved ones.

Ofori Amponsah was in a sombre mood as he spoke to the bloggers who had gathered at the entrance of his late mentor's plush residence at East Legon in Accra.

The one-time MTV Africa Music Awards nominee called on Ghanaians to love one another and peacefully coexist without any issues.

He also called on Ghanaians to learn from the good work Daddy Lumba did throughout his over four-decade music career and emulate him.

He said:

"Just like Papa (Daddy Lumba) used to say when he was still alive, we should all love one another. We should not fight and backbite one another. We should also look at the good work he did and take a cue from it."

Ofori Amponsah also called for Ghanaians to pray for the late Daddy Lumba's family, especially his children, who are dealing with their beloved father's demise.

He said:

"We are also praying. Pray for his children, especially the young ones who are now growing. That is the sad situation."

The veteran highlife musician proceeded to the residence with his entourage before meeting his colleague, Akosua Agyapong, with whom he hugged and shared a lighthearted moment while she was about to leave the premises with actor Mikki Osei Berko.

Ofori Amponsah also shared heartfelt memories of the late Daddy Lumba as he signed the book of condolence at his residence.

Ofori Amponsah began his music career in 1999 under the tutelage of Daddy Lumba, who was impressed with his musical talent after the former submitted his demo to him following the advice of a man he met at a music store.

The late music icon later signed the Cinderella hitmaker to a record deal and became his mentor to help nurture the immense talent he had at a young age. He also provided financial assistance to him and housed him for many years.

Ofori Amponsah spent many years as a protégé of the late Daddy Lumba and often wrote songs for him during the early years of their working relationship.

The Otoolege hitmaker gained entry into the Ghanaian music industry when he collaborated with Daddy Lumba on the album Wo Ho Kyere.

Despite the high-profile collaboration with his mentor, it took the highlife musician six years to fully forge a successful music career.

Ofori Amponsah and Daddy Lumba's working relationship eventually ended with the former moving on to become a prominent solo artiste and win multiple high-profile awards since the early 2000s.

Over the years, the pair performed together at several music events across the country, with their last one coming in February 2025, at the Valentine's Day with Daddy Lumba concert at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafoh speaks on Amponsah's support calls

Speaking to YEN.com.gh, entertainment analyst Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafoh shared his thoughts on Ofori Amponsah's calls for support for Daddy Lumba's children and how the Ghanaian entertainment community can provide more emotional and financial support for the families of legendary figures who pass away.

He said:

"I believe Daddy Lumba’s family is in a good position financially, and I believe donations will also go a long way to help the family and the children under the age of 18."
