EOCO detained Shatta Wale on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, after he was invited to the premises of the financial crimes agency in relation to the investigation into his alleged purchase of a stolen vehicle.
He was granted Gh₵ 10 million bail and detained overnight until he met the conditions for his release.
EOCO seized Wale’s yellow 2019 Lamborghini Urus after the FBI linked it to a Ghanaian national jailed in the United States.
According to reports, Shatta Wale's charges include possession of proceeds of crime, money laundering, tax fraud and tax evasion.
Shatta Wale’s manager breaks down EOCO interrogation
Speaking in a video shared on social media, Sammy Flex said EOCO invited Shatta Wale concerning tax questions surrounding the Lamborghini and not money laundering, as some news portals reported.
“Shatta Wale is not involved in any money laundering as some people are putting out. Those are lies, total falsehoods. Shatta Wale has not involved himself in any criminal acts,” he said.
Sammy Flex noted that when they got to EOCO, Shatta and his lawyer met the officials of the agency, who asked him questions related to his Lamborghini.
He said the artiste resolutely defended himself during the interrogation and denied any knowledge of the car being stolen or any other crime.
“Shatta Wale went to EOCO, defended the fact that he bought his car, and I'm sure EOCO has issues with how he paid taxes on the car that he bought. The issue is, how did he take care of the tax obligations around the vehicle he bought?” he continued.
He said after the interrogation, Shatta Wale’s lawyer informed him that the artiste was in a calm state as he was eager for the law to take its course and was confident that he had not broken any law.
