Samuel Aboagye, a former National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate in Obuasi East, was killed during the tragic helicopter crash near Obuasi on August 6.

Aboagye and seven other people were headed to Obuasi on a Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter when they crashed into the Sikaman Forest in the Adansi Afuokrom District of the Ashanti Region.

The crash killed all eight people aboard – five civilians and three military crew.

Samuel Aboagye’s death devastated his family, with his wife and two children hit particularly hard.

A state funeral was organised for all eight fallen souls, as they had died in the service of the country.

During the funeral, Samuel Aboagye’s wife delivered a teary tribute to him, remembering his final messages to her.

She recalled one message sent to her on her birthday on August 1 in which he declared his undying love for her.

"Happy birthday, my love. You're not only my wife but my best friend. The greatest blessing in my life. I thank God every day for you. I look forward to creating more beautiful memories together. Enjoy your day. I love you forever." the message read.

Salami also shared the last message Aboagye sent her the day of the crash, once again declaring his love for her.

Despite moved during Aboagye's widow's tribute

As the tribute was read on her behalf, Abigail Salami broke down completely into tears as she struggled to handle the loss.

Billionaire Osei Kwame Despite, who was seated at the funeral grounds, was also seen struggling to control his emotions.

In a brief moment of the camera on his face, Despite was moved to tears as he contemplated the pain of the widow.
