Kennedy Asante Osei, the son of Ghanaian businessman Dr Osei Kwame Despite, has mourned the death of his close friend and brother, Michael Kwesi Ofori.

Michael Kwesi Ofori, a businessman and philanthropist popularly known as The General, was reported dead on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Ghanaian media personality Caleb Nii Boye shared the distressing news on his Instagram handle, announcing the unexpected death of Ofori.

“Aaw, Kwesi 😌. Rest Well Bro. This pierced me so hard. 😫😫😭😭.” he shared.

Michael Ofori was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Investors Hub, a consulting firm offering advisory services to investors, with a primary focus on securing foreign investments for local African firms.

The General attended the Presbyterian Boys Secondary School (PRESEC), Legon, for his High School education and graduated in 2007 before completing his undergraduate degree at the Central University College, Ghana.

He was well known for being the godson of astute Ghanaian businessman Ernest Ofori Sarpong, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Special Group of Companies.

The late businessman and philanthropist modelled his career after Sarpong and often praised him publicly for serving as his mentor and helping him reach new heights as a professional.

He ascended to public prominence in September 2023 after he got married to Rita Ofori Acheampong, a relative of former Health Minister, Dr Richard Anane.

Their wedding ceremony, held in Kumasi, was attended by Despite, Dr Ofori Sarpong, Kennedy Osei, and other members of the two families.

Ofori’s death stirred mourning on social media, with many Ghanaians expressing condolences to the Osei and Ofori Sarpong families.

The son of Dr Osei Kwame Despite, Kennedy Osei, has confirmed and reacted to the passing of Michael Ofori.

Osei’s father, Despite and Ofori Sarpong are close associates, and the two are practically considered brothers.

Osei took to social media to mourn his uncle’s godson, whom he considered a close friend.

He shared photos of Ofori on his Instagram stories with the song Be Magnified by Don Moen playing in the background.

“Rest in peace,” Kennedy Osei wrote on his Instagram stories.
