Teacher’s Tribute Highlights Lumba’s Humble Beginnings
An old video that resurfaced online, recorded in 2008, shows the proud teacher speaking in the presence of former presidents, the late Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kuffuor.
In 2008, Daddy Lumba was officially honoured by the Government of Ghana for his legendary contribution to the country's music industry.
The event was part of the National Honours and Awards Day, held at the Accra International Conference Centre to celebrate individuals who had served the nation with excellence.
Both former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Jerry John Rawlings were also honoured at the event. Their attendance was notable, given their political rivalry.
While the late Charles Kwadwo Fosu received his award, his former SHS teacher, Mama Acheampong, who taught him Agricultural Science at Juaben SHS, was also present, stepping in as a mother figure.
