How Daddy Lumba and Nana Achempong met

Daddy Lumba and Nana Acheampong initially met in Germany in the 1980s when Daddy Lumba had traveled there to join his then partner, Theresa, and also chase his dream of being a musician.

It was during this time that he met Nana Acheampong, who was already doing music with the band Talking Dreams.

Daddy Lumba once disclosed that he was a pure gospel musician and did not have much experience in secular music, or even highlife for which he became a legend.

Nana Acheampong introduced him to the genre that launched his career into success.

The duo eventually shared a love for highlife music, and Ghanaian culture made it even easier.

Realising the chemistry between them and their versatile visions, they decided to form a group, and that’s how the Lumba Brothers came to be.

The Lumba Brothers' first studio album was "Yɛɛyɛ Aka Akwantuo Mu," which was released in 1989.

The album became an instant hit in Ghana. It was also well received by the Ghanaian diaspora who fell in love with it as it depicts the struggles immigrants go through when they travel to seek greener pastures.

The Lumba Brothers went their separate ways after some years together and separated amicably without any grudges.

They even continued to perform together as Daddy Lumba and Nana Acheampong.
