On May 19, 2025, gospel musician Empress Gifty filed a GH₵20 million suit for defamation and sued televangelist Nana Agradaa, who is also called Patricia Asiedua, in the Tema High Court. Empress Gifty's lawyer, Edzrah Affram, contended that Agradaa, during a live stream on social media on May 13, 2025, falsely stated the following: “Empress Gifty was promiscuous, a prostitute, had physical relations with dogs, and had engaged with pastors in less than favourable ways.” Empress Gifty's lawyer argued that the claims were "malicious and reckless."

According to the suit, which states that Agradaa made her comments on multiple streaming applications, including Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. The defamatory statements made by Agradaa have tarnished Empress Gifty's reputation and have also affected her children at school. The suit also mentions that the false claims have hurt her chances at securing brand deals.

Empress Gifty’s claim is asking for a GH₵20 million in reputation damages, a perpetual injunction prohibiting Agradaa from making similar statements, and removal of the defamatory publications. Agradaa has responded by boldly denouncing the suit and threatening to counter-sue Gifty’s husband, Hopeson Adorye, in an international court for alleged provocations.
