The late highlife great married a second wife later in his life while never officially divorcing his first wife.

Daddy Lumba met his first wife, Akosua Serwaa, in Germany in the 1980s when he was starting as a highlife musician with fellow highlife great, Nana Acheampong.

She was reportedly highly influential in the musician’s career, as she has been credited with financing his first album.

In the late 2000s, Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, developed health complications from an accident he had earlier in his life, which forced him to undergo spinal surgery.

He became bedridden and was cared for by a nurse, Priscilla Ofori-Atta, also known as Odo Broni.

Lumba later married her while never ending his relationship with his first wife.

This sparked confusion following his death as the public debated who should be considered the real Mrs Fosu.

Daddy Lumba’s manager, Roman Fada stirred further controversy when he introduced Akosua Serwaa as Lumba’s first wife and Odo Broni as Mrs Fosu during a family event.

Social media users slammed him for the move, with many claiming he had thrown his weight behind Odo Broni as Lumba’s legitimate wife with his actions and disrespected Akosua Serwaa, who toiled with the musician for decades.
