What happened to Daddy Lumba?
On July 26, it was reported that Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, had died. The 60-year-old died at the Bank Hospital after a short illness, as per a release by his family.
According to Juaben Fosu, his close friend since high school, Daddy Lumba battled with a spine injury for close to 15 years.
In an interview after the musician's death, Juaben Fosu noted that Daddy Lumba had a successful surgery to replace his spine with a metallic replica; however, the effects never went away completely.
"He had an accident, but didn't pay enough attention to the injury. He was young by then and was in his prime. Eventually, the effects caught up with him. He was operated upon and had his spine replaced with metal. The operation costs $40k," Juabeng Fosu said.
The Ankwanoma hitmaker was married to his second wife, whom he affectionately referred to as Odo Broni, when he died.
Details about the highlife luminary's biological children are scant. Reports indicate that he was survived by seven children, four with his first wife, Akosua Serwaa, who lives abroad and three with Odo Broni, his second wife.
