Ghanaian media personality and singer Afua Asantewaa Aduonum is set to study music at an international school.

The viral sensation announced her milestone on social media with a video of her singing Black Sherif's So It Goes.

The song, released as part of the 23-year-old Black Sherif's sophomore album, Iron Boy, has garnered significant traction since it dropped on April 3, 2025.

Afua Asantewaa has always been vocal about her passion for music, which has fuelled her Guinness World Record attempts.

Her first attempt at the longest singing marathon lasted over three days, making it one of the biggest events in Ghana's 2023 Detty December calendar.

Scores of celebrities, including Nana Ama McBrown and Shatta Wale, joined the frenzy as they visited the GWR contender during her attempt.

Vice President and New Patriotic Party candidate at the time, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, also honoured Afua with his presence.

Recently, Afua shared some concerns about how her first attempt went, debunking rumours that she received a car, house, and other prizes from the government.

She established that she only received medicine from the Vice President to treat her bad cough.

Her comments triggered many of her team members and supporters, who felt she had thrown them under the bus and accused them falsely of receiving gifts on her behalf.

The tension between Afua and some of her fans came to a head as they shared their thoughts on her scholarship announcement.

Ghanaians react to Afua Asantewaa's milestone

According to him, the transition from public figure to academic life is often more seamless when the school is outside Ghana.

I believe that outside Ghana, the transition from public figure to academic life is often more seamless, as the two roles are seen as distinct. Being in the public eye doesnโ€™t necessarily hinder oneโ€™s academic pursuits; it can enrich them. The challenge, however, lies more in context and perception back home, where public status is often misinterpreted within academic settings, He said.

Afua Asantewaa and husband meet Otumfuo

YEN.com.gh also previously reported that Afua Asantewaa met the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, sharing the privilege with her husband.

She wore a blue strapless long-sleeve dress and white platform shoes, while her husband, Kofi Aduonum, opted for a classy all-black ensemble.

The admirable viral couple met with the Asantehene, who was elated to welcome and share a word with them about Afua's recent second GWR attempt.
