Two students of the Nalerigu Senior High School have been reported dead after an attack by unidentified assailants on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in the North East Region of Ghana.

According to reports, the armed assailants broke into the school during the evening and committed the heinous crime before leaving the premises.
The headmaster of the Nalerigu Senior High School, Mohammed Tibila, confirmed the unfortunate news during interviews with multiple media outlets on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
The identities of the two deceased students are still unknown. The bodies of the victims have been taken into police custody, with forensic teams analysing the crime scene for clues to solve the case
The full details surrounding the unfortunate shooting incident remain unclear. However, some have alleged that there is a direct link to the ongoing conflict in Bawku in the Upper East Region.
The Ghana Police Service is currently conducting investigations into the matter and has yet to issue a public statement on the situation. The unfortunate incident has also heightened security concerns in the school.
Students, parents, and community leaders are reportedly awaiting details on the motive behind the killings and concrete steps to enhance security in and around the school.

He said:
"In the case of what happened on the campus, the school's security did not do their job well. The Ghana Police Service must conduct thorough investigations and apprehend the culprits."
"The government and security agencies must also develop a strong security strategy that would protect the students from experiencing such tragic incidents on their campus again."
SHS student dies in Bimbilla during festival
The unfortunate incident comes a few weeks after a female student was shot during a fire festival celebration at Bimbilla in the Nanumba North Municipality of the Northern Region.

The SHS Two student named Fatima Abukari lost her life after a stray bullet hit her during a procession from the regent Nyelimbolgu Naa Yakubu Andani II's house to Wampu Dam, where the fire festival was taking place.
The 18-year-old Bimbilla Senior High School student sadly passed away at the hospital after she was rushed for medical treatment following the unfortunate incident.
Fatima Abukari was buried on July 6 at the Bimbilla Cemetery with her final funeral rites taking place on July 8, 2025.
The late Fatima's reported friend, who was also present on the scene, shared that she and her colleague had sneaked out of their house to the festival grounds despite warnings from their parents.
The police reportedly retrieved cartridge casings during their visit to the scene following the unfortunate incident, with no arrests made at the time.
Addressing the media, Chief Inspector Lukman Neindoo, the Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, warned the public against possessing and using unlicensed weapons, particularly firearms.
Kusasi Chief dead after shooting incident
In another story reported by YEN.com.gh, a Kusasi Chief died in a shooting incident at his residence near the Asawase F-line community centre on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
Eyewitnesses claimed that Abdul-Malik Azenbe, who was also the head of the Kadi Divisional Area in Binduri, was attacked by two men on a motorbike at around 8:40 pm.
Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, visited the deceased's family and pledged a full-scale investigation to arrest the perpetrators.
